Why AEGIS?
The word "AEGIS" was first spoken verbally some 3500 years ago by a group of Mycenaean Philosophers in a region along the Aegean sea that is today known as Macedonia, and translated to a combination of the concepts of leadership and diplomacy.
The ancient Greeks knew "Aegis" as Zeus' celestial shield, which was emblematic of heavenly majesty. In later eras the term was used to describe the protective shield of the Goddess Athena, and became a component of the post-Roman official city seal of Athens, the capital of modern Greece.
Today, the word is synonymous with guidance and protection, and employed in esoteric political or legal speech as a synonym for "under tutelage or stewardship of". Our goal here at AEGIS, like the shield of Athena, is to guide and protect our many overseas and domestic clients, providing their various industries with qualitatively superior, yet cost-saving solutions.
